A story told between the pictures

A photograph can do more than introduce an article. Placed between two paragraphs, it can show the detail a reader has just learned to notice.

Pause at the first photograph. A useful caption adds context rather than repeating the text above it. Alternative text describes what the image communicates for someone who cannot see it.

A closer look

The second image brings the story back to a smaller detail. Both photographs belong to the article body, so the editor decides exactly where they appear among the words.

On a narrow screen, the images should fit the available space while the captions remain easy to read.
